First Things First

We arrived February 26, 2010 to our new home The Blending Room to begin our first task! Drainage. Why you ask? We need a drain for easy clean-up of our wine “messes”. First things first: where do we start digging? where is that sewer pipe? While digging holes for about an hour, thoughts of my life as a winemaker began creeping into my shoveling focused brain. If you asked me at that moment, what it means to be a winemaker? I would have to say winemakers are specialists in pipes. The repetitive shoveling motion flooded my mind with last summer’s vineyard work, digging...

2010 NW Women’s Show

Posted by on Mar 20, 2010

Wow! Wow is all I can really say. This huge event knocked us off our feet, literally. Last weekend March 5th, 6th, and 7th, WineGirl Wines represented themselves in the Wine Garden of the NW Women’s Show! This event turned the Qwest Field Event Center into a mad house of pink and women’s gear! Over 28,000 people poured into this event tasting new treats, learning of new objects like the bra barrette, sniffing olfactory pleasures from the House of Matriarch, not to mention free admission to the wine garden where 30 wineries poured their passion in to 3 oz plastic cups. Holy...

March’s label of the month is inspired by an unbelievable discovery of cross-marketing techniques and the wine bottle. Say Hello to Hello Kitty wines. Pic can be found here. Our friends in Italy have released a Pinot Nero with licensed Sanrio labels featuring an angelic Hello Kitty and diabolic Hello Kitty. Interesting, what will those Italians think of next? Then, ridiculous meets the US federal TTB label approval process, which states that labels on alcoholic beverages may not target under-aged consumers including, but not limited to, cartoon graphics. So, if Hello Kitty is not...

First Annual Derby Wife Day

Posted by on Mar 10, 2010

Saturday February 20th was declared the First Annual Derby Wife Day (by me). So to celebrate Killer Bee-otch threw her best derby girlfriends a wine party hosted by WineGirl Wines and featuring My Derby Wife Merlot. The party was hosted at the Danger-Wench Palace by Rat City Rollergirls’ Sara Problem, Raven Mad and Shovey Chase. THANKS GUYS! The night was a raging success, besides (as BomBarb pointed out) that George Carlin might advise us to never attend a “First Annual” anything. We had a ceremony uniting best friends or as rollergirls call ‘em: Derby Wives. Go...

The Blending Room by WineGirl Wines

We here at WineGirl Wines have been relatively quiet over the last few months; and some of you may have heard rumors. So at last, it’s time to make a public announcement: We are moving to Lake Chelan! It’s true. We’re packing up and leaving behind our Seattle/Sammamish digs. That’s right, you heard it! We’re finally going to bring the true WineGirl and Javier experience to you in our brand new location in Manson, Washington, right off the North Shore Lake Chelan Highway 150 in the land of 300 days of sun. In May 2010, we will open our doors wide and let the...
