All About Industrial Floor Coatings

The following quote was from a blog post that Angela started a while back.

It is floor time. As a winery, we need a sealed concrete floor for our production space. Sounds easy enough… but when you have a list of needs such as quality, budget, durability, and efficiency it makes for some interesting compromises. Interesting reading? Not sure, but here goes.

Well, the floor is supremely important to me. Maybe because I’m short and I rarely look up, or maybe it just makes everything that much cleaner feeling, but my one demand was that we didn’t end up with a car showroom floor.

That’s as far as the WineGirl could get writing this particular blog post. The memories were too painful. Preparing the floor was tough. You probably saw the video of Angela really getting into some floor scraping. Those photos were taken when it was still a little fun.

The project turned out to take a lot longer since there were no easy answers to our many questions about industrial floor coatings. We know a lot more now, maybe we know too much. If you’re modifying a concrete floor for a winery or another application, drop me a line and I’ll tell you what I know. We ended up using a 2-part epoxy coating for our floor.

In the end, after all the research, prepping, patching, stripping, scrubbing, and scraping, we got ourselves a shiny, black winery floor. Not very exciting, but important to the process and the product.
