WineGirl Wines LogoThe story of WineGirl Wines begins in 2006 in a very tiny little converted, carport space in the center of the Frelardia neighborhood of Seattle. That’s the region where Fremont and Ballard collide. As a trained enologist, but employed at a pharmaceutical company, Angela aka WineGirl decided to purchase 2000 pounds of Red Mountain grapes to satisfy her wine making urge. With the success of the wine, she decided it was time to do things “officially”.

Just in time for harvest 2007, Angela received her winery licensing approval for a converted, little garage in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. She and her partner Jonathan produced 100 cases of Red Mountain wines in a true garagiste-style and released them under the Firá Label.

Feeling the need to continue production but quickly outgrowing the 20 by 10 foot space in Ravenna, 2008 brought a move to a new and slightly larger garage in Sammamish, Washington. The WineGirl Wines portfolio grew to nearly 200 cases in its Sammamish location and debuted its reserve wines under the Kamari Black Label. Also new in 2008, was a limited-edition bottling of My Derby Wife “Killer Bee-otch” Merlot!

Then just last year in 2010, Jonathan and Angela moved WineGirl Wines east of the Cascade mountains to sunny Lake Chelan. In the spring of 2010, WineGirl Wines opened The Blending Room on the North Shore in the beautiful village of Manson, Washington. The Blending Room is Lake Chelan’s smallest winery and true to our garagiste roots is also a funky, little converted garage space. We’ve grown our production from 350 cases in 2010 to just over 500 for 2011.

You can stay tuned to our projects and updates via our newsletter and blog as we break ground on a new production facility tucked away in the hills of Manson, Washington.
