Chelan Nouveau

This coming Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24 is the second weekend of Chelan Nouveau. Lake Chelan area wineries are celebrating their newly released white wines and roses. All the valley’s wineries will be having special events for the weekend. The Blending Room has a new vintage of our favorite Fira Chardonnay. The Quincy-grown grapes continue to show bright citrus and fresh grassy notes. We fermented in oak and aged in a stainless steel tank for a crisp wine with just enough structure. Stop in to our nano-winery for a taste this...

Washington Wine Report reviews Kamari wines

Washington Wine Report is the work of Sean Sullivan. Sean reviews wines and provides news about the wine industry in this state. He relieves the community of Washington wine lovers of a burden by taking on the task of sorting out all the many wines from the many Washington winemakers. It’s a serious task, but Sean seems to have a passion for, not only, reporting on Washington’s wines but unraveling the stories behind the wines and wineries. Where’s Wino? The Wine Loft.

The Wine Loft is a great wine shop in Olympia, Washington. This shop received high praise from 100% of the three people I know who live in Olympia. This is the wine shop I want in my town because it has friendly folks behind the counter who listen to what customers want and genuinely guide them in the proper direction. These things are...

Winter Barrel Work

Posted by on Mar 16, 2011

Just when we thought it was spring in Manson, we got two weeks of snowy weather here at The Blending Room. We have wine to rack soon, so the weather didn’t stop us from doing some barrel cleaning out in the snow. Racking helps clarify the wine by pulling the clean wine off the top while leaving the solid lees behind in the barrel. Longtime wino, Evan, came over from Chicago for a visit and we convinced him to help for a day in the cellar. Evan assisted us with barrel washing, rinsing, scrubbing, moving and sulfuring just like a pro cellar rat. It’s a great help to have an...
