Tractor Fund

Last summer one of our extremely enthusiastic and awesome wine club members brought us home a little John Deere tractor tin can. They found the tin can whilst traveling back East to their childhood home of North Dakota: home of the John Deere Tractor. We have since made this our “Tractor Fund” collection tin as we prepare to move to our vineyard and plant our own grapes, all we need is a tractor!

This weekend during Chelan Nouveau we had a visit from Alex and Jodi Saliby, wine writers and enthusiasts out of Leavenworth. It’s always a pleasure to host these two wonderful and jolly characters especially after Alex’s return from kidney surgery. Glad to see you’re out and about and only need one kidney, Alex!

John Deere and Jimmy Buffett

On July 4th, after the fireworks show, we wandered down to the end of Wapato Point in Manson to hang with some of our best wine stooges, Peggy and Steve.

This is when I learned of Steve’s John Deere fanaticism

(among his other fanaticism for Jimmy Buffett). He grew up in John Deere land North Dakota on an alfalfa farm. We bonded. I’m not sure if this means I too will become a Jimmy Buffet fan. What is it, Margaritaville?

We’re located at the entrance to Wapato Point, so Peggy and Steve often cruise down to The Blending Room in their golf cart. They make me laugh so hard. This is what I discovered on their golf cart key ring. (I bet if they made John Deer golf carts, they’d own it.)

Free Hat

I just came across this silly photo taken after many grueling late night hours shopping at Home Depot in Wenatchee trying to get The Blending Room ready for opening day last year 2010. I still found time to dream of the Free Hat that could be mine, if I purchased that John Deere sewing machine of a lawn mower. Too bad I was on a budget. I John Deere.
