This is when we get down and celebrate all of our hard work. We need your help to drink our wine.
Annual Release Party Chelanigans
Our annual wine release party is Saturday August 6th here at the winery in Manson, WA. We’ll have all our new wines available for tasting by the flight, glass and bottle including the 2009 Kamari Black Label Reserve Red Wine Blend.

There’ll be live music on the wine deck all evening with Velvet Elvis, from Wenatchee, and The Mess, from Olympia. After dark, we’ll be showing various 16mm films to accompany the tunes.
We’ve arranged to get a member of The Swinery, a West Seattle butcher, over from the westside to help us roast a pig for this event. We’ll be offering pork sliders to accompany the fine wines.

Advance ONLINE TICKETS are $10, or $15 at the door and include free tastings, pork sliders, and a full evening of live music.
Blending Club Members with current memberships as of July 31st can purchase tickets FREE online with Special Email Invite Code or $5 at the door. Check your email.

Release Party Summer 2010
This year’s wine release party was a grand success. It was WineGirl Wines‘ first party in our new location on Lake Chelan, so the celebration was a belated grand opening party too. We had a great turn out from old and new wino friends. We premiered five newly bottled wines and each was paired with a cheese provided by our neighbor, Lake Chelan Cheese. There was food, music, and lots of good conversation.

Later in the night, we projected black and white 16mm films on our newly unveiled covered deck. The weather was fine and it was a lovely evening for sitting outside and chatting over a glass of vino. And even later in the night, films gave way to an impromptu disco dance party.

Thanks to everyone who came out to help us release these new wines to the waiting world. Thanks, also, to the special folks that became our very first wine club members. It was great fun and we look forward to seeing you here next time.
WgotW – Special for August
When it comes to friends, WineGirl is luckier than all this week. Our special featured WineGirl of the Week is a selfless, long-time friend of Jonathan and Angela, who came to help get the decor in top shape for our most recent Grand Opening and Release Party! Brittany is by far one of the most genuine people I know working into the whee hours stuffing wine bottles with little lights for our new over-the-bar track lighting.
Thanks Brit the finished project is amazing and we couldn’t do it without your help!
Cheers,

’07 Kamari Malbec release
New: Check out party video linked here!

‘Movies and Malbec’ was a success. It was a glorious evening of fine wine and flickering films. WineGirl Wines unleashed the 2007 Kamari Black Label Malbec upon the world and set the mood with 16mm moving pictures. We saw Charlie Chaplin’s “The Rink”, the animated ‘Naughty Nellie’ with the songs of Clinic, ‘Hannah and the Dog Ghost’, and Hans’ Richter’s ‘Ghosts Before Breakfast’. Ian Wood’s ‘Tsunami Escape’ with The Velvet Underground as background sound was well received by the crowd as was ‘Rikki Tikki Tavi’.
Some old fans showed up, and we all met some new friends. We winos at WineGirl Wines love meeting new people through wine. Sharing a glass of great wine with good people is a major motivation for us to keep up our work.

Thanks to our friends at French Market Spice for providing their delicious Truffle Salt. We used it as a topping for popcorn which might be the most extravagant popped corn topper possible. The rich flavor of black truffle went very well with our big red wines.
The Kamari Malbec was a hit and we’re glad everyone could make it out on a lovely night to help us celebrate the newest offering from WineGirl Wines.

Preparing for the Malbec release
It’s big work to prepare for even a small wine release event. This most recent event was to be for our 2007 Kamari Malbec. The preparations for ‘Movies and Malbec’ were to be minimal. We planned for a relaxed night of films projected large outdoors with good friends, the perfect setting to unveil a lovely new wine. The weather, however, looked uncooperative. Two days before the event, the future seemed wet and windy. As we have done for the two years past, this meant erecting a tent roof over the entire back yard. Our release parties of previous years were late in the season, and we thought August would be safe for fine, summer weather. The main Kamari release event earlier in the month was on a beautiful sunny afternoon in Seattle, but it looked like the Malbec party would happen between the raindrops. With half a plan, I enlisted help from some winos faithful to the cause and up went the roof.

The giant movie screen had to go up too. Luckily, I remember a half hitch or two from cub scouts. There were some questionable carpentry skills displayed as well as some lucky leanings. After a couple of long nights with a pile of ropes and a cooler of beer, we had a weather resistant outdoor cinema complete with a cleverly concealed 16mm film projection booth and the proper mood lighting.

Thanks to everybody who helped pull this together.

2009 Build a Treehouse Wine Party
Well, it was a smashing success. Not as smashing as last year (we started the night with 60 wine glasses and woke up with only 24), but smashing none the less.
The press artist Amy Redmond was there with her block press art a splendor! It was such a gorgeous treat to see her art and I even purchased a piece.
Then local artist Katie McMullin was there, too. She too had amazing collage and paintings on display. She has amazingly vivid pieces and I hope to work with her on a new Firá label in the likes of a beautiful bird like this:
We even had some of Javier’s family from the East coast in town to sip our wine.
Then there was the sponsored charity of the evening and our number one entrepreneur, Chloe. Chloe found the event so inspiring for the foster children of the Treehouse that she began drawing her own pictures to then sell for $1. She sold 13 pictures and donated all of her proceeds to the pot collected for the Treehouse. It was such a pleasure to have this little girl, and her mom of course, at the party. She made my night.
And, as it was my birthday, Javier bought me one of Chloe’s pictures. A stunning piece with many complicated layers. First there was the profile of the long haired girl and then colorful seat turtle a top the image almost like a frame as if the profiled girl was dreaming of swimming with the gorgeous Galapagos sea turtles.
Well we collected over $200 for the
. A superb success for our first fundraising event.

3rd Annual WineGirl Wines Release Party: Prep Time!
When does the party begin? What is the instigous of the infamous party? What does it take to put on a show for our dearly beloved winos?
This year’s preparation was just as stressful as in the past, even though we PROMISED ourselves we would plan way far ahead an not let the stress get to us. I gardened my brains out during the record hottest week ever recorded in Seattle; with sweat pouring from my face into my sunglasses to the point where my sunglasses were filling like fish tanks. And it was only 10AM, BTW, where 4:30PM is the hottest part of the Seattle summer day.
But I managed to get the place looking super nice. I spent 9 days over one month pulling weeds, edging, blowing, cutting rose bush, laying beauty bark. Javier’s kind mother even stopped by and contributed gorgeous flowers from her garden and hours of her time to pull miscreant grass and weed the snake pits!
What started as this:
and this:
actually ended as this:
Fabulous! The Lebens’s wouldn’t even know what hit the place. For goodness sakes, beauty bark, for real! The neighbors were super impressed as I was myself, and secretly wishing I had my own place to spiff up and feel a little more invested in, but all the same. I love it all!
Ciao,
WineGirl
