WgotW – June 30th

Our WineGirl of the Week for June 30th arrived in summer style from the wet side. Saira came with five of her friends to experience the Lake Chelan-dependence weekend! And like every year it will be a weekend to remember. Saira’s Saturday activities included the Manson Farmer’s Market at the Manson Grange as well as the Manson Public Library book sale before she came to hang out at The Blending Room to sip a succulent glass of our Firá Chardonnay. Saira’s heading to a BBQ tonight and of course watching the Chelan fireworks before she’s off to bed to catch some beauty...

Happy New Year!

With one last chance to challenge the limits of fine wine before a fresh start, we offer you a very special New Year’s Eve cocktail. I love Champagne any time, but it has to be in my glass on this one day of the year just before midnight. But what to drink for the frenzied lead up? We chose our 2008 Firá Chardonnay as a base for this bubbly pear Champé. The Supplies: Firá Chardonnay Pear Vodka White Grape Juice Club Soda Fresh Ginger Root Lemon [If you can't find Pear Vodka or want a fun project for the kids, you can make your own pear infusion by putting three large Bosc pears...

You will go to the shop and take a photo of yourself next to our bottles on the shelf (everybody’s got a camera-phone, right). 3. You will submit the photo to us by email. 4. We will display the first...

20something 2009

What a night! 800 ticket holders and 75 Washington state wineries crowded into the Fremont Studios to taste wine, try gourmet foods, and simply be seen. Hosted by the Washington Wine Commission, the fifth annual 20something event boasted local chef Tom Douglas’s pork head, Ray’s Cafe Thai curry penne, and my new personal favorite coffee roaster Stumptown Coffee. Yum Yum. So, while the night started off at 6PM, the majority of the peeps came strolling in around 7PM in a true fashionably-late style. Pouring our 2008 Columbia Valley Firá Chardonnay and 2007 Walla Walla Valley...

GNO!

Girl’s Night Out! It was a tasting for the ladies at the small wine bar in Magnolia called Swirl. Local winemaker, yours truly, and cellarmaster stud Jon arrived about 5:45PM to set up. They had a little table ready near the door for us, very cozy. We set up the Firá Chardonnay on a little ice bath and then pulled the cork on the Kamari Malbec. We also had our Bordeaux-style blend the Black Label Reserve ready for tasting, too. It was a slow start as there was a true Seattle chill to the air, but you’d think since it wasn’t raining the ladies would be out i...
