Who needs romance when we’ve got Red Wine and Chocolate? And oh boy, do we have incredible red wines and delectable artisan chocolates lined up for two palate-rich, hedonistic weekends in February. On February 11th and 12th, we’ll have chocolate pairings by Rebecca Chatham of Tempurr Artisan Confections. She’ll bring her incredible truffles, creative mendiants and my personal favorites the chocolate salted caramels! Her chocolates are to die for and will be paired alongside a perfect selection of our red wines. We will be busting out some of our extremely limited stock of wines for these pairings, so you won’t want to miss it.

You can also meet Rebecca on Saturday and Sunday from 1 – 4pm as she discusses her passion for chocolate and shows us how to make our very own chocolate tuxedo strawberries.

Lake Chelan TraX is back and bigger than ever. For two evenings over the three-day President’s weekend, Lake Chelan will be hosting the coolest downhill trick skiing and snowboarding competition this side of the Rockies. The TraX Rail Jam is a ski and snowboard event that takes place on a two-story rail setup. 25 tons of snow will cover the setup, skiers and snowboarders will have the option to grind three different features in a jam format. They will be judged on overall impression.

TraX is on and will be loaded with a full list of activities from the frosty family fun run to the beer garden.

Come celebrate winter in the Lake Chelan Valley. Winterfest has been extended to two weekends for 2012. As always, there will be ice sculptures, live music, snowmobile races, and the best in the Valley’s fine wines. The Blending Room will be open longer hours and extra days for wine tastings and special events.

This is a rough and tumble wine we’ve been holding onto for a while now. Bottled in June of last year, this bottle has been in the cellar until the time was right for it’s unveiling. Now you can try our ’08 My Derby Wife Cabernet Franc at The Blending Room. It’s 100% Columbia Valley Cabernet Franc with that peppery spice and a medium body. This Derby Wife is only available from our online store or at The Blending Room in Manson. Contact us directly for quantity purchases or special deliveries.

Rat City Rollergirls‘ have a bout this evening at Key Arena. It’s the Home Team Standings bout with DLF challenging Grave Danger and the Sockit Wenches going up against the Throttle Rockets. The doors open at 4:30 and you better find your seat by 5:30. Tickets are still available as of this writing but the last bout sold out, so don’t wait to get over to Seattle Center.

TraX brought loads of winter fun this past weekend. The snow was hiding up in the hills for the skiers, snowshoers, and sledders, but we had glorious sunny, cold weather down at lake level. The folks from Orchard Wood Ovens parked outside The Blending Room for the day on Saturday making pizza for our wine sippers. We had another great weekend of Red Wine & Chocolates pairing our reds with handmade Tempurr truffles, caramels and shiny chocolate ladybugs. While Angela and I were pouring inside, visiting artists from Seattle were setting up their work and enjoying the sun outside.

After the sun set, we hosted the Trax Art pARTy here at The Blending Room. Artists Sharon Wilfong, Hera Won, Sarah Denby, Andrew Miller, John Tingley and StarheadBoy presented a live art show while I spun records and Angela paired The Blending Room‘s best with brick oven flatbread and pizza courses. We had a great turnout from local friends, wineclub members and Seattle winos.

The weekend ended with fireworks over Manson Bay. Thanks to everyone who came out to TraX and to the first annual TraX Art pARTy and thanks to the artists. We look forward to next year’s fun.

There will be a variety of events throughout the valley during Lake Chelan’s upcoming TraX event this Presidents’ Weekend. One of our very special events for TraX is the TraX Art pARTy, a live artmaking show at The Blending Room.

Art pARTies Seattle is coming to Manson, Wash. and painting to the live DJ tunes while Angela and I pour the wine. This melding of live art, music and fine wine will make for an exciting evening. At the end of the night, the artists will raffle off their newly created works to the audience. It’s great fun and a great chance at some unique, original art.

There will be gourmet food provided by Chelan’s own Orchard Wood Ovens. Their specialty is delicious apple wood cooked flatbreads and pizzas. They will bring their mobile brick pizza oven to The Blending Room for the night and cook up several fine courses. There will be two flatbread choices including one with goat cheese and caramelized onions with a balsamic vinegar reduction. Also available will be four pizza choices including a white pizza with garlic olive oil, fontina cheese and prosciutto topped with fresh arugula. We will have our selections of our Fira and Kamari wines paired with the food courses of the night.

2011 is here.
Thanks to everyone who supported our winery through 2010. It was a great first year in our new Lake Chelan homebase. We worked hard and had a lot of fun behind the bar meeting new winos from all over the state and the world.

The Blending Room is open New Years Day 1/1/11 and Sunday 1/2/11
and every Saturday and Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm.

Remember that Winterfest is coming up soon: 1/14-16 in Manson and Chelan.
