Well, I’m not one to have favorites, but hand-over-fist the best value sparkling wine is none other than Domaine Ste. Michelle. Maybe it’s easy for me to remember since there’s not a million kinds of sparkling wines out there (yet), or perhaps the cheap sparklers are really that bad (which is infinitely true) or maybe its my bias toward Washington wines applied to the sparkler category. Women of Wine – WoW I

For my first entry on the WoW – Women of Wine, I  have chosen my mentor to be the Madame Veuve Clicquot. Madame Clicquot was born in 1777 Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin. She was married at 21 to François Clicquot whose businesses were involved in banking, wool trading, and Champagne. His untimely death six years after their marriage in 1805 left Barbe-Nicole une veuve, or a widow.
