WgotW – June 16th
We’ve got a new section! This will be the premier of WineGirl of the Week. We’re featuring our splendid guests each week in this blog section. Don’t worry guys, you’re all WineGuys as far as we’re concerned. So for our first week, we have Pam & Debbie. A couple girls out and about visiting the wineries all over the Lake Chelan valley. They wandered in last Wednesday and the fun didn’t stop. From the Premier Tasting Flight to a couple of glasses of the Kamari Black Label Reserve, they weathered the dreary and rainy, un-summer-like day on our little...

And now for some actual winemaking on this blog. It’s been a while. Our time has been occupied and our blog has been clogged with moving the winery, construction on the new facility and settling into our new location. We’re getting prepared to bottle our 2008 reds and 2009 whites soon. That means some filtering is in order for the ’09 Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer (that’s French for Gewürztraminer). This blog post follows a whirlwind set-up of wine in China posted here. As a student in the MBA program at the University of Washington, I am so lucky to have the chance to learn from amazing community business representatives on a variety of topics. In the first forum Mr. Piacentini alluded to adding a cancellation/return policy to Joyo, how everyone else thought returns were just not a part of Chinese culture. But then, when it became an...
Read MoreLabel of the Month: LotM – April
You know, what better way to go down in history than with your own wine label. As I was researching my Wine in China? post, I came across a Karl Marx label on a Chinese sparkling wine. So, naturally I decided it would have to be the next label of the month. Further researched confirmed another label on a German red wine: This search also turned up an intriguing set of wine labels with equally controversial images (depending on which side you take) upon them. How about the Hitler label or the Carter label or the Che label? So, I’m no history buff. It was my...

Drain The result of all that mud digging posted in First Things First was a new drain. I never thought I’d be so proud of a hole in the ground. We’ll even have a space for a sanitizing sink in the winery to clean all of our winemaking tools. _________________________________________________________________ Carpet While the boys were having their way with the pipes, I was working diligently on our décor. This meant tearing up the hideous blue indoor-outdoor carpet. You’d think this would be easy… you’d just need a putty knife. (Putty...
