The Name
Firá comes from the name of the town that our WineMaker Angela was studying in when she decided to pursue a career in wine making. Meaning fire, Firá is on the volcanic island of Santorini in Greece. Our winemaker’s sassy and fiery nature continues to define the wines of the Firá brand.

The Artist
Kalani Kam of Hawaii digitally created the owl for the Firá labels. His graphic design work can also be found on Casual Industrees apparel.

The Image
Of our WineGirl Wines portfolio of wine labels, Firá was the debut release of our 2007 vintage wines. The Firá label has now seen its 4th vintage with several versions for our red and white wines. The Firá label features a fat little owl peaking from the corner. The inspiration for this label came from an actual owl that has a lookout branch in an old Cedar tree behind our winery. He’s a large long-eared owl that allows only his silhouette to appear briefly at dusk as he fades with the sunset light. You’ll have to visit The Blending Room to see if you can hear his hooting calls. This is an image of a similar owl found around these Eastern Washington parts.

Since the Firá label has become such a large part of our lives, images of sweet little owls have begun cropping up all over The Blending Room. Come find the owls and our phenomenal Firá wines here.
